![]() Unfortunately, while the title and characters all have official English translations, the game itself does not. Many fans, veterans specifically, consider Genealogy to have one of the intensest and best storylines in the series. Lastly, Genealogy is not the first FE game to feature a time skip, but it features a prominent one and is a central theme to the game's story. Hmm, sounds like a certain Switch title released earlier this year. Rather than a sole legendary blade belonging exclusively to the main lord, several units have their own respected legendary weapons based on their bloodline. What's more, all the chapter maps combined form the Jugdral continent-a nice attention to detail, if I do say so myself.Īnother defining feature of Genealogy is the inheritance of exalted weapons. But while it has the fewest number of chapters, it also has the largest and lengthiest maps in the series. Genealogy has the fewest number of chapters of any mainline FE game to date with only 12 total. Paired units exchange gold exclusively with each other, while the thief class can freely exchange gold with all playable units. Funds max out at 50,000 gold and can be earned through the arena, by saving villages, or by selling goods. In Genealogy each unit has their own individual funds rather than a collective army fund. Money is another important factor to the game. Weapons and items can also be stored using the supply function, where Anna will safely watch over your goods. Instead one must buy/sell weapons and items through the Pawnbroker. It also established the magic triangle: fire bests wind, wind bests thunder, thunder best fire (light and dark magic best all other magic). Genealogy also introduced the weapons triangle: swords best axes, axes best lances, lances best swords. Genealogy is notably for being the first FE game where units could have children. If not, substitute children units will appear instead. If two units are successfully paired together they will marry and have children in the second generation. Certain units can gain love points by fighting and waiting adjacent to each other. ❂First of all, supports are an important part of Genealogy and take place in the form of event conversations and the love system. So, rather than give a long synopsis of the game's story (which I will mostly likely discuss somewhere in the CT), I'll instead list a few significant mechanics from the game which I feel help illustrate its gameplay beyond the usual turn-based combat. I don't want to give the story away for those unfamiliar with it. Genealogy of the Holy War (referred to as Genealogy from here) takes place on the continent of Jugdral and is told over the course of two generations: the first led by Sigurd, the second led by his son Seliph. However, the theme of this thread will focus on the former. A second game in the Jugdral series, Thracia 776, was released on the Super Famicom on January 21, 2000. It marked the fourth entry in the series, was written and directed by series creator Shouzou Kaga, and was the last game to be produced by the legendary Gunpei Yokoi. Originally released in Japan on with the subtitle 聖戦の系譜 ( Seisen no Keifu), Genealogy of the Holy War (the official English title) is a Fire Emblem game of epic proportions.
